From the Commodore Congratulations and welcome to the newly elected officers, who will serve on next year’s board. The slate this year presented an excellent choice of candidates, and the club is fortunate to have them serve. I look forward to working with them as they take the helm. Our first tailgate party was an overwhelming success. Jimmy Taylor’s tuna sandwich drew an unusually large crowd. We are going to try to do this every Saturday during football season as long as we have volunteer chefs to prepare a meal. If you have a particular dish that you would like to prepare, contact the club or sign up to volunteer. Events scheduled for October include a pre-Halloween costume party at the club, and an event to coincide with Cruising the Coast. Details are given in the Lee Sheet. Again, I remind you that we serve a variety lunch menu daily, except Monday, and will now include a daily blue plate special. Every Thursday we have an excellent lunch buffet with a salad and dessert bar. Thanks to all the volunteers who make the club such a wonderful place to be. I appreciate them for their hard work and dedication. They are the backbone of our organization. Have a great October. Jude McDonnell, |

Membership Drive Sponsor a new member and enjoy a free Friday night dinner for two at the Biloxi Yacht Club! Simply forward the name and phone number of your candidate for membership to Gaylord Wilson at 374-2935 and he will do the rest. The rules are simple. The candidate for membership must be accepted and the initiation fee paid in full. Sponsor as many members as you like and enjoy additional Friday night dinners compliments of BYC. New members will help avoid future dues increases and future assessments. The goal is a net increase of 50 new members by the end of the year. BYC Open to Cruisers We will be open to “Cruising the Coast” participants from All members are encouraged to come on down to the BYC all week to watch the show but especially on Saturday when we will be cooking hotdogs, hamburgers, and salads. We’ll be jammin’ to 50’s and 60’s music, hanging out on the front lawn and enjoying all the hot cars and good company. So be a cool cat and dress the part Daddy-O! Slap on some Brylcream and your winkle picker shoes or poodle skirts and be there or be square!!!

The Green Column I really like that “split the pot” deal on Friday night. on the 10th Lou e donated her winnings to the Grounds Committee. It was rumored that I twisted her arm! Believe what you will. IVAN left us with a lot of twigs and leaves but no real damage. A few bruised plants and broken stems cannot compare to the damage our neighbors to the east endured. We count ourselves most fortunate. Ethel, Lou and I have agreed to serve on the Grounds
Committee another year. There are several major projects that we would like
to finish and then we’re going to let some of you younger members take a
turn. We would like to invite new and old members to come out and join the
“Guru’s Crewe”. Don’t wait for an invitation. We always need help. Most
Thursday mornings we are working and you can just come or call me at
385-3982. See you soon. Your Gardening Guru
