From the Commodore Congratulations to Bill Dellenger on his appointment to the board of directors. Bill is to be commended for the excellent maintenance of our swimming pool. He is also responsible for the painting of a designated handicapped parking spot outside of the back entrance to the club. Thelma and her gang have also been active, as always, placing posts along the front walkway to the highway, building storage shelves in the pool house (thanks, Kevin) and keeping the grounds and gardens in beautiful shape. We still have a few cooking vacancies for preparation of Monday football dinners. If you have a dish that you would like to serve, sign up to volunteer. Our membership drive is still underway. For every membership proposition you sponsor, you will enjoy a free Friday night dinner for two at the club. Thanks to Gaylord Wilson for spearheading this effort. For details, you may call him at 374-2935. Don’t forget the Commodore’s Ball to be held on November 6 at the Slovenian Lodge. Invitations with details have been mailed. Have a great November and Thanksgiving. Jude McDonnell, |

House Committee Report Monday Night Football dinners are in full swing. It is important that our members support this event. Also, if you would like to cook your specialty one Monday night, call the Club and arrange it with Brenda Guichet. Tailgating is available on Saturdays. Prepare your favorite tailgate food for your fellow BYC members and pick your college team to support. Notify Brenda at the Club or contact Jennifer Schmidt of the House Committee. When the weather cools down in November, on Sunday afternoon oysters will be available from time to time. Rumor has it Stag will prepare Oysters Mosca one Sunday. Of course raw oysters will be served as well as various cooked oyster dishes. Check with the Club to find out when we will have oysters on Sunday. Lunch is served daily Tuesday through Friday at the BYC.
Your support of lunch is important. Also come to your club for Friday
evening dinner. Ralph Pringle, Chairman |
Ladies Auxiliary DeVon Lyons of “Tranquil Moments” and Saida of “ In Harmony Center” relaxed us all at the October meeting held at our new Meeting time, the 2nd Thursday of the month. Those hot neck wraps sent us to heaven! November, Thanksgiving holiday time, means delicious food for most of us. Less fortunate folks need help; however, Rowan Quave, contact for “The Lord is My Help” food agency in Ocean Springs and auxiliary member asked that all BYC members donate two cans of food or checks to this worthy endeavor. Cane baskets will be placed around the club. All will be collected November 11. At the Thursday, November 11th Auxiliary meeting , we will welcome any BYC member or guest to enjoy sharing a glass of wine and buffet lunch with the group. Arrive by 11:45 am.. Call in your reservations by Wednesday for staff to set up tables if you can. Program: “Bonsai Secrets” by Ray Blackburn will inform you on growing miniature trees. A slate of officers will be presented for election in December. Come join us! — Jackie Hand, President |

The Green Column For those of you who have been out to the Rub Rail lately we’ve provided a well-marked pathway to show you the way. Thursday, October 7th we set the posts and line for the walkway and put reflectors on the posts. Hopefully this will help keep motorist from running over them. What I’m trying to say friends is “please don’t run over the posts”. A lot of hard work went into that project. Those who showed up to work were The Sisters, Jude, Frank W., Richard D. and Suzie and Kevin Conner. Suzie and Kevin are new recruits to the Guru’s Crewe and we really appreciate their help. This was a very busy work-day for we also cleaned out the area where the boats and trailers are stored. Robbie and Jennifer Schmidt has previously installed a gate opening to the parking lot provided a much needed secure area for storage. Storage is very limited at the club and we have to utilize whatever space we can find. We plan to install shelving in the pool house for outside equipment such as gardening supplies and other items that will not be affected by moisture or pool chemicals. Remember, we won’t turn anyone away that wants to join us on
Thursdays. There’s always something to be done. We welcome suggestions from
members on other improvements they would like to see. Call me at 385-3982
with your commitment of time and/or money; also with your comments,
compliments or complaints. We’ll take them all! Your Gardening Guru
