From the Commodore

Our Wednesday night dinner and races are in full swing. If you would like to participate, come down to the pier around 5:30, and we will put you on a boat. You don’t have to be a sailor, yet. We would be happy to have you enjoy the ride. After the race, come over to the club and have dinner. If you don’t want to participate in the race, just come down and eat. The Wednesday night menu is excellent.

J. J. Gagne and her entertainment committee are doing an outstanding job of planning events. Their Cinco de Mayo party on the pier and the luau around the pool were very successful. A calendar of fun events is in store for the coming months. Keep informed by reading the Lee Sheet.

Ralph Pringle and his house committee have really been active at the club. They have been responsible for the preparation of the food served at the many events held in the last few months. Ralph has initiated several ideas for club improvement. If you have any suggestions, let Ralph know.

Thelma Ellis and her gang made a sizable profit from the recent power boat race fund raiser. With the funds dedicated to the grounds committee, Thelma has presented an impressive grounds improvement plan. She also needs help, so please volunteer to assist her committee when asked. Thanks to everyone for making this a successful and exciting

Have a great June.

Commodore

House Committee Report

Volunteers are what make our BYC different from most Yacht Clubs. Our members have always been ready and willing to help get things done at the Club. An example is Ron Mucha, who built and installed a chair rail in the lounge to keep the steam table from damaging the newly repaired wall. Also, I can’t say enough about all the volunteers who cooked and served food at the “Rub Rail” on the pier during the fundraiser for our Ground Committee. Thanks to all of our hardworking volunteers who make our Club a success.

Participation in our lunches at BYC is atrocious. Please come down to the Club, bring a friend, and have lunch. During the summer we will be serving a low carb pasta salad with marinated shrimp and option, daily Tuesday through Friday for lunch.

Friday night dinners are also down. Make a reservation for dinner on Friday and receive a free appetizer. Dinner is also served at BYC on Wednesday evening. I look forward to seeing you at the Club for dinner Wednesday and Friday.

The House Committee is interested in you opinion. Feel free to put any suggestions concerning the operation of the bar and kitchen in the box located in the lounge.

 Ralph Pringle, House Committee Chairman

The Green Column

When in the course of human events we have a fund-raiser such as BYC had on April 24th and 25th it is cause for celebration. Smokin the Sound brought out the people and BYC Grounds Committee profited. We donated $200 to the racing event to help defray some of their cost for we certainly want them to return next year.

I cannot possibly name everyone involved in this event but appreciate each and every one of you. BYC members were generous with their time and many who were not scheduled to work stepped in to help. Without Ralph and his cooking crew putting out that fantastic food we couldn’t have succeeded. And succeed we did! Our estimated profit for the two-day event was $2500.

Now just because we have some money do not expect me to let anyone off the hook. We still need labor. And, yes Lester, I’m going to work everyone’s buns off. And yes, that money WILL buy a lot of petunias.

Expect to see some improvements to the front of the property next.
