Activities in July
4th 5th 6th, 12th & 13th 9th 10th 19th 26th 27th Coming in August 4th 13th 14th 16th 23th |
From the Commodore The new pool is fabulous and full of activity. We are enjoying it and having fun. For those of you who don't want to swim, we have a bench seat that extends across the wallof the shallow end. Here you can sit, get wet up to the waist and enjoy a cool drink. Try it-you'll like it. We are changing our Sunday hours to be noon to 8pm so that more time can be available for using the pool. New enhancements to the pool area continue daily. Thelma and her gang are there almost every day, maintaining the pool gardens and putting in new plants and shrubbery. Take a look at the pool house artistry, thanks to the talent of Vickie O'Neal. Look for more of her works on the marina shortly. She and husband, Jim, do a lot for our club. With the Sunday evening fireworks displays, scheduled to run through Labor Day, the marina pier bar will open at 7pm for beer, wine and soft drinks. Tim Kirkman will be there to cook any meat that you bring and serve it with a salad and potato for $3. The sound system will be on to provide music. Our Saturday morning adult sailing program and Wednesday night racing are sparking a lot of interest in sailing from our adult members. You don't have to be a sailor, yet, to enjoy these activities. Tim gives basic instruction on Saturday's beginning at 10am. If you come on Wednesday evening at 5:30pm, we will put you on a team that will show you what sailing is all about. It is with sadness and regret that I announce the resignation of three volunteers from their positions. Lee & Nancy Bannister, who have done a wonderful job with the Lee Sheet and transformed it into a work of art, are going to take advantage of their retirement and do some traveling. Mitch Parker, our house committee chairman, is retiring from his job and wants more time with his family. Mitch has worked tirelessly, and quietly to turn our dining & food service into a first-class operation. I am now at the half way mark of my term. I have learned that it is the volunteers who make this club such a success and keep it moving. I am overwhelmed and grateful for their support. I thanks all of them. Have a great July

The Green Column Did everyone but me know that we had a resident artist? Walk out to the new pool and enjoy the tropical scene Vicki O'Neal is creating on the pool house. With that, an added inspiration, we are pushing really hard to finish planting the pool area before the hot weather stops us. Most of the down and dirty hard work is behind us, and I'll stop cracking the whip for a while. Oh, but I forgot, the materials for the Shoo-fly are ready. Just a little longer crew and I promise to let you rest. Your Gardening Guru |

The Marina & Rub Rail With hurricane season here, I urge all of you to be ready to "bug out" if it becomes necessary. If you are going to be out of town when a storm is imminent, I would suggest that you have SEA TOW toe you to safety, or have a licensed captain or other club member move your boat to safety. Pier Fundraiser - $10 Add your favorite location to the cross roads sign on the pier. Leave donation and location with the bar tender. |

Can't make the Luncheons?? This is new for those ladies who, for whatever reason, can't make it to the mid-day luncheons. Starting July 9th, and once every three months thereafter, we will have our meeting in the evening with a 6pm social and dinner at 6:30pm. Remember, we meet the second Wednesday of every month. Please make your reservations in advance so that the kitchen staff can plan meals accordingly. Bar is available during our meetings with happy hour prices.
